Our New Head Coach

**Meet Head Coach Matthew Dietrich**
A soon-to-be chemistry grad at the University of Maryland, Matthew is making waves both in the lab and the pool. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Maryland on the horizon for December 2025, he’s got a knack for making science as cool as the water he swims in. But don’t let the lab coat fool you—this isn’t your average scientist! Matthew has been a competitive swimmer for over a decade, with experience that includes four years on the Springbrook High School swim team, where he made quite the splash at the Metros Swim and Dive Championships and multiple MCSL All-Stars events.
His swimming journey includes the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club (RMSC) for six years and the Hillandale Hellcats for 13 years, where he not only set multiple team and pool records but also learned the art of teamwork and dedication. Now, as a private swim instructor, Matthew teaches kids and adults everything from basic water safety to perfecting competitive strokes, all while keeping the atmosphere light and fun. Matthew was also an Assistant Swim Coach for the Hellcats (MCSL) for 2 summers where he coached practices as well as A and B meets as well as teaching the pre-team!

One of the coolest things about Matthew is how much swimming has meant to him over the years. He has amazing memories from the countless hours spent in the water and the invaluable mentorship he received from his coaches. Grateful for their guidance, he’s committed to keeping swimming a big part of his life. Matthew is super excited to share his passion and knowledge with the next generation of swimmers, eager to inspire them just like he was inspired. Whether teaching techniques or sharing stories, he’s all about fostering a love for the sport that lasts a lifetime!
Matthew is also available for one on one lessons. We are so excited to welcome Matthew to the Marlins!
